About the position
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) allow us to image the heart's various anatomical structures, such as chambers, valves, and vessels; measure and calculate functional processes like heart mobility and blood flow; and examine the heart's tissue characteristics.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will work with quantitative analysis of blood flow in the heart and major vessels based on MRI, primarily 4D flow MRI. Your responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient workflows for data processing and analysis, including data collection, storage, and quality control, correcting image artifacts, as well as advanced analysis and quantification of image and flow data. The role also involves interpreting results and writing scientific articles.
The research is conducted in collaboration with other senior researchers and doctoral students in the group.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will conduct research, both in collaboration with others and in your own projects. Some teaching and supervision may also be included in the duties.
About you
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively, while also possessing the capacity to work independently.
You should have good proficiency in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as our department and project are multilingual.
We require you to have:
- A PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD
- Experience with cardiovascular MRI
- Knowledge of handling and analyzing 4D flow MRI data
The following qualifications are meritorious:
- Experience in programming software for the analysis of 4D flow MRI data, including correction of background offset, phase wrapping, segmentation, and analysis
- Experience in analyzing 4D flow MRI data in large clinical studies of heart patients
- Experience with XNAT and Sectra PACS systems

The position is affiliated with the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV) (https://liu.se/organisation/liu/hmv/cmiv). CMIV is an interdisciplinary research center at Linköping University that conducts focused front-line research within interdisciplinary projects providing solutions to tomorrow's clinical questions. The interdisciplinary research group within cardiovascular imaging and modeling (Cardiovascular Imaging and Modeling (https://liu.se/forskning/kardiovaskular-bildtagning-och-modellering)) at CMIV conducts technical development and application of advanced MRI and CT methods in the cardiovascular field, which is one of the focus areas at CMIV.
About the employment
